I painted this en plein air at Gold Creek Pond in Snoqualmie Pass on a beautifully overcast morning that gave way to a bright and sunny afternoon. One of the challenges of plein air painting is resisting the urge to “chase the light” of the scene you’re painting. You have to decide on your lighting and stick with it, or else you’ll end up with a painting that’s all over the place. This was a struggle here with such dramatic lighting changes throughout my short time painting!
